2012 Trek Madone 5.9 H2

Feel the balance of power and finesse aboard Trek's Madone 5.9. The power part comes from Trek's OCLV carbon frame, which boasts ingenious technology that will have you setting personal bests. The 90mm-wide bottom bracket gives you a stiff, efficient pedaling platform, the integrated headset and BB cups save weight and the seatmast trims even more grams, and adds compliance for long-ride comfort. The finesse part starts up front with the Race X Lite Carbon fork boasting a tapered steerer for precise steering and awesome efficiency with minimal weight. And your Madone proudly showcases Ultegra Di2 electronic shifting for effortless, blink-of-a-eye shifting. And, Race X Lite components and tubeless Ultegra wheels make the 5.9 perfect for the serious racer and casual rider alike.

      Comments:

I bought a 2300 in 2004 it has been great. So when I was looking to upgrade I started looking at new Treks, the 5.9 Madone Di got my attention. I did the research and found a great deal on a 2012 it is so much better that I thought it would be. I don't want to stop riding it.

Best bang the buck before getting into higher priced bikes that arent that much lighter.Handels awsome, and the electronic shifting I was apprehensive about works perfect. The geometry is very comfy even on longer rides of 100+!:)

I have my 5.9 madone now for 8 months and have had no problems with the bike. The Di2 shifting is smooth and flawless. Reading the other review it sounds like the shifting was not set correctly by the mechanic. I now there are limit screws on those derailluers for i do most of my own work.

              Comments:

Upgraded from Trek Madone 5.2 as it needed semi-annual shifter adjustments and new cables. What a difference, stiff great handling bike. Ultegra Di2 drivetrain shifts perfectly every time, even while climbing out of the saddle. Chain rubbing a thing of the past with autotrim feature. Will not buy a bike with mechanical shifting again. Changed seat and tires due to personal preference. Shimano WH-6700 rims roll smooth and true.

                  Comments:

I purchased this bike 24 days ago. What attracted me to this bike was the Di2 drivetrain, but after my experience, I have my doubts. I was out riding Saturday and I noticed the rear derailleur would not shift to the smallest cog. I decided to shift to the largest cog and then shift back to the smallest cog to see if this would correct the problem. While I was shifting toward the largest cog, the chain popped off and lodged between the cassette and hub...then the entire rear wheel came off and I landed on the pavement! Fortunately for me no cars were coming so I experienced no injury. I took it back to the place where I bought it and was told today (after waiting 3 days) that they are waiting on Trek to get it covered under warranty and it might take as long as 3-4 weeks to get it back. This is entirely disappointing to me to pay this much for a bike and almost get killed and now have to wait 3-4 weeks for repair...and when I get it back how do I know it won't happen again? It would seem to me there should be some type of limit switch on the drivetrain to prevent this from happening. This is my is the second Trek bike I have purchased in less than two years, but right now I am unhappy with this bike…and somebody has got to convince me it won't happen again.
